Why do I have to sign up to the private area?
To avoid you having to enter your data (e.g. delivery address) every time you place an order, we have created a reserved area. Fill in the fields on the relevant form and then click on “Sign up now”.
You can also start the ordering process without signing into the reserved area; the system will automatically ask you to sign in during the ordering process when your data is needed.
Your data will be saved in our database and can be retrieved any time for any order; the data will only be used for the correct processing of your order and will not be transmitted to third parties.
By registering on the site you will also be able to see all details of your orders and check their status.
Can I edit or delete my data?
Of course. You can edit your data at any time: just click on "My Profile" after registration and edit the data you want.
To delete your profile, you can send an e-mail to our customer service department through our contact form.
I have forgotten my password. What can I do?
If you have forgotten your password, click on "forgotten password" on the right of the registration box; enter your e-mail address in the relevant field and click on "Request new password". You will then be sent an e-mail containing a new password which we recommend you change once you have entered your reserved area.
Orders and delivery
Which requirements apply to my images?
Before placing your order, please check whether your digital images meet the quality requirements necessary to produce an optimal product. If the resolution of the photographs is sufficient, the quality of digital photo prints on photographic paper will be similar to that of conventional analogue film prints. To ensure the best print results we only use high quality Fuji photographic paper.
Lidl Photos supports all the most popular file formats used by digital cameras, such as:
- JPEG / JPG
- TIFF (N.B.: in this case the images must be in RGB format without compression!)
We recommend that you use a JPEG format with a low compression factor; in fact, if files are compressed too much image quality may be impaired.
Do not forget that Lidl Photos supports only RGB-format images!
The choice of a "matt" or "glossy" finish applies to all items included in your order; only if you add a poster to your order can you order a glossy poster and matt prints.
For the best quality prints, your digital photos must have the following resolution (N.B.: these are for illustration only for formats with a 2:3 aspect ratio).
Format, minimum Resolution, Size
- 9 cm, 1050 x 1050, max. 2100, 8,89 cm x 8,89, max. 18,00 cm
- 10 cm, 1200 x 1200, max. 2100, 10,16 cm x 10,16, max. 18,50 cm
- 11 cm, 1350 x 1350, max. 2250, 11,40 cm x 11,40, max. 19,00 cm
- 13 cm, 1500 x 1500, max. 2300, 12,70 cm x 12,70, max. 19,50 cm
- 20 cm, 2400 x 2400, max. 3600, 20,32 cm x 20,32 x 30,50 cm
- 30 cm, 2400 x 2400, max. 3600, 30,48 cm x 30,48 x 50,00 cm
- 40 cm, 3200 x 3200, max. 4800, 40,64 cm x 40,64 x 65,00 cm
(* Poster formats)
Of course, you can also use scanned photos to make prints or posters; just scan them in with a minimum 300 DPI, and do not compress the JPG file excessively. You can find more information on this subject on the instructions for your scanner.
You can also use black and white images for your prints, following the same procedure and using the same photographic paper as for colour images. If you have previously purchased or already processed images, you may wish to disable our image optimisation option to obtain the best results.
What printing formats do you offer?
"Smart" formats with a height of 9, 10, 13, 20, 30, 40 and 50 cm and variable widths are perfect for any image you want to print (assuming the resolution is sufficient)! These print formats are not new in the digital photography world, but give the user the ability to print their photos without too much effort.
Lidl Photos offers you "smart" fixed-height and variable width formats to cope with the various aspect ratios of digital and analogue cameras: a photo obtained from a traditional analogue camera has a 2:3 aspect ratio while the most common format for a digital camera is 3:4.
Therefore, if you want to print a digital photo produced in 3:4 format in a conventional 2:3 (9 x 13 cm) format, you should edit the photo by cutting it, or else you will be adding a white border on the left and the right. The "smart" variable-width formats give you the advantage of not having to adapt the aspect ratio to the print formats.
For example, in the 9 cm format, the system automatically assigns a height of 9 cm to the shorter side of the image, while the width measurement will adjust to the actual width of the image to be printed. Therefore, choosing the 9 cm size, a square image will be printed measuring 9 x 9 cm , while a rectangular image will appear as a 9 x 18 cm print without white edges and without cropping the photo.
Of course, even variable-width formats have maximum limits (see table below):
Size, Height (fixed), Width (variable)
- 9 cm, 9 cm, min. 8,90 cm, max. 18,00 cm
- 10 cm, 10 cm, min. 10,20 cm, max. 18,00 cm
- 11 cm, 11 cm, min. 11,40 cm, max. 19,00 cm
- 13 cm, 13 cm, min. 12,70 cm, max. 19,50 cm
- 20 cm, 20 cm, min. 20,30 cm, max. 30,50 cm
- 30 cm, 30 cm, min. 30,50 cm, max. 50,00 cm
- 40 cm, 40 cm, min. 40,60 cm, max. 65,00 cm
- 50 cm, 50 cm, min. 50,80 cm, max. 75,00 cm
If you want to order a number of print formats, please select them individually for each image.

If errors in file transmission occur, please check the status of the order in the relevant section of your reserved area or check if you have received an order confirmation via e-mail. If that is not the case, you will need to begin anew.
If errors occur when entering the coupon code, check that it was typed correctly in lower case or upper case letters. Coupons are valid only for the products indicated and are therefore not accepted for other products.
How do I check the status of an order?
As a registered user you can check the current status of your orders in your reserved area. You will in any case also receive an e-mail notifying you when your order is being processed and when it will be subsequently shipped.
How long will it take to receive the products I ordered?
The delivery times shown below and those indicated in the ordering system apply to orders for a single product and are understood to be the product production times excluding our partner’s shipping time. For shipping times, please calculate 4 working days.
Production Time + Shipping Time = Delivery Time
You can place a mixed order containing various types of items, which we will send to you in a single mixed shipment. In this case, the expected delivery date depends on that of the item with the longest delivery times, to which you should add up to 2 days for shipment.
The mixed shipment rules do not apply to the wall art product category (on canvas, forex, Alu Dibond etc.): you can include them as part of a mixed shipment but in this case they will be sent to you in a partial shipment (see the relevant notice). In the case of partial shipments (of only one type of product for each partial shipment), the delivery times of each single type of product shall apply.
In the case of a mixed order (various types of products), we calculate, for the whole order, the highest shipping cost of all of the items in the order.
The delivery time is calculated from the day after the order is sent and ends at the end of the last specified delivery date. No deliveries will be made on Sundays or public holidays.

Can I collect my order at a Lidl branch?
No. Ordered items will be sent by post and cannot be collected from a Lidl branch.
My photos were printed and the colours are very different from the original. What happened?
You probably saved your digital images in CMYK mode; only use the RGB colour model.
My photographic prints are blurred or grainy, even though on my monitor they were perfect!
The resolution of your images is probably too low for the print format you ordered.
There are often strange streaks on my prints, mostly in the case of JPEG files. Why?
Your JPEG images are probably too compressed, which can cause streaks or stripes.
On the print the actual photo is very small, while the rest of the paper is white!
You probably scanned your photo without selecting it, so rather than saving just the actual picture you saved the entire surface of the scanner.
What are the system requirements for my computer?
You need a computer with internet access and an ISDN or, even better, an ADSL connection.
To use the ActiveX programme you need Internet Explorer version 5.5 or higher.

You may also have installed and activated a firewall that prevents the software from connecting to the internet; ports 80 and 443 at least must be open for the Lidl Photos software. In some cases, antivirus software may be preventing the transmission of data; in this case, please disable it for the duration of the data transmission.
