Unlike traditional film cameras, digital cameras take photos in an aspect ratio of 4:3. This means that to print your digital images in traditional print sizes (e.g. 4 x 6"/10 x 15 cm, print size may not be exactly e.g. 4 x 6" due to variable length printing) your images will therefore be printed full size and may not be printed a fixed length.
Tip: most digital cameras allow you to change the default aspect ratio back to the traditional 3:2 aspect ratio.
